It’s a Barbenheimer reunion of sorts as Ryan Gosling (who played Ken in Barbie) and Emily Blunt (part of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer) come together in The Fall Guy. However, this action comedy is not the only film hitting cinemas this week. Here’s everything you need to know about this week’s theatrical releases.

The Fall Guy (English)

Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman in The Fall Guy, an action comedy from the makers of Bullet Train. After a stunt mishap, Colt Seavers (played by Gosling) quits his Hollywood stunt career and leaves behind his cinematographer girlfriend Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). A year later, Colt is asked to rejuvenate his career with Jody’s directorial debut. During the shoot, Colt learns that the lead actor of the film Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is missing. To salvage the film, Colt embarks on a mission to find Tom, getting embroiled in a conspiracy involving drugs and murder.

Tarot (English)

Tarot is a supernatural horror movie adapted from Nicholas Adams’s 1992 novel Horrorscope. The story revolves around a circle of university friends whose fates take a sinister turn following tarot card readings. As the students die one after another in mysterious circumstances, the remaining friends must unite and race against time to unravel the mystery of the tarot cards before it claims them all.

Exhuma (Korean)

Directed by: Jang Jae-hyun

Cast: Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun, Yoo Hae-jin and Lee Do-hyun.

Helmed by Jang Jae-hyun, Exhuma is a supernatural horror film revolving around a renowned shaman (Kim Go-Eun) and her apprentice (Lee Do-hyun). They are commissioned by a wealthy family to investigate a curse affecting the family. With the help of a mortician (Yoo Hai-jin) and a geomancer (Choi Min-sik), they trace the origins of the curse to a concealed family tomb on a sacred ground. Sensing ominous energies surrounding the burial place, the team opts to excavate and relocate the ancestral remains swiftly. However, their action comes with grave consequences.

Tento (Bengali)

Cast: Rajesh Sharma, Sudipta Chakraborty, Tej, Debesh Roy Chowdhury, Arundhati Chakraborty, Arunavo Dutta, Ankusree Maity

Debutante actor Tej plays a young man battling mental trauma in Swarna Shekar’s Tento, a suspense thriller set in the pristine locales of north Bengal. Tej essays the role of Jyotirmoy, an introvert guy who lives with his sister and uncle following the death of his father. Sudipta Chakraborty plays Mimi, a woman who holds immense significance in Jyotirmoy’s life.

Malayalee From India (Malayalam)

Cast: Nivin Pauly, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Anaswara Rajan, Salim Kumar, Shine Tom Chacko

Malayalee From India is a political satire film revolving around Aalparambil Gopi (Nivin Pauly), who leads a carefree life with his best friend Malghosh (Dhyan Sreenivasan) in a small village in Kerala. When an untoward incident leads to a communal flare in his village, Gopi escapes abroad, landing a job in the Middle East. Spending time away from his homeland, Gopi learns life lessons and realises the value of communal harmony.
