At her Eras Tour concert in the Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium on Sunday, Taylor Swift requested fans not to throw things on the stage as it “freaks” her out and might cause her to trip while dancing.

A video shared by a fan account of Taylor’s has gone viral on social media. “Taylor very kindly asking the crowd to not to throw things on stage #BuenosAiresTSTheErasTour,” said the account on X (formerly Twitter) alongside the clip.

The Anti-Hero singer is seen dressed in an orange dress and sitting at the piano before she’s interrupted by things tossed onto the stage, prompting her to politely address her fans. “And just because communication means having gentle healthy boundaries - it really freaks me out when stuff gets thrown on the stage,” the 33-year-old singer-songwriter said.

Taylor acknowledged that fans show their love and appreciation for their favourite artists through these gestures but she said she was concerned about the safety of the performers on-stage that gets endangered after such an act is pulled off.

“Because if it's on the stage then a dancer can trip on it and I love that you brought presents and that is so nice, but just can you please not throw them on the stage. I love you so much!” she added.

Taylor kicked off the South American leg of her tour in Argentina on Sunday, which she calls “the best decision possible”. Sharing pictures from her live performance in Buenos Aires on Instagram, the Lover singer wrote, “I can’t even express my gratitude to the Buenos Aires crowds. I’d never been to Argentina before and they gave us the most electric, magical memories.”

She thanked her fans for their immense support even after the original show got postponed from last Friday to Sunday. “Thanks to the amazing fans whose show was postponed Friday for coming back Sunday and blowing us away with your passion and excitement. See you next weekend, Rio!” Taylor signed off her note.

The Eras Tour, which has been extended till November 2024 with new locations across the US and Canada, includes songs from Taylor’s ten albums — Lover (2019), Fearless (2008), Evermore (2020), Reputation (2017), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), Folklore (2020), 1989 (2014), Evermore (2020) and Midnights (2022) — released over the course of her 17-year-long career.

Recently, a film adaptation of Taylor’s The Eras Tour was released, featuring highlights of the tour along with behind-the-scenes clips and insights into the singer’s inspiration behind the tour.
