Janet Jackson almost landed a role in a superhero movie, the singer-actress revealed in a teaser clip of the latest episode of The Drew Barrymore Show featuring the singer-songwriter.
In the teaser clip shared on the show’s Instagram page, Jackson disclosed that though she doesn’t remember the name of the superhero movie, it featured Halle Berry as Storm.
When asked whether she was “almost in The Matrix”, Jackson replied in the negative. “It was... this is terrible. I can't recall the film, but Halle Berry played Storm,” she said, prompting Barrymore to blurt out, “X-Men?”
“I couldn't because I was just starting the Janet tour. But I think that's what you're mistaking it for. It wasn't The Matrix.” Janet further clarified.
Halle Berry first played Storm in the 2000 film X-Men, adapted from Marvel comics, reprising the role in subsequent instalments.
Empathising with Janet, Barrymore also shared her own list of films which she gave a miss, opting for a different project at the time.
“It's tough when you consider a role and then pass on it. I've had many of those instances,” she remarked. “I've never said this out loud… Boogie Nights. There was a moment where we were talking about Boogie Nights and I think it’s when I went and did Ever After and I went in a very different direction,” the Charlie's Angels actress revealed.
When asked if she'd consider making a comeback to movies, Janet replied, “I would for sure.”
