The Color Purple
Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the official trailer of its upcoming American musical coming-of-age period drama film The Color Purple on Monday. Directed by Blitz Bazawule, the film stars Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Phylicia Pearl Mpasi.
The two-minute-24-second-long trailer chronicles the lifelong struggles of an African American woman living in the American South during the early 1900s. The video also features some song and dance sequences from the musical of the same name. The film is produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones.
The Color Purple is set to arrive in theatres on December 25.
The Miracle Club
Sony Pictures Classics on Monday shared the official trailer of its upcoming comedy film The Miracle Club. Helmed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan, the film stars Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates and Laura Linney in lead roles.
The two-minute-two-second-long trailer follows a group of riotous working-class women from Dublin. They go on a pilgrimage to Lourdes in France and discover friendship.
Ōoku: The Inner Chambers
Netflix Anime unveiled the official trailer of its upcoming anime series Ōoku: The Inner Chambers on Tuesday. Based on Fumi Yoshinaga’s original manga of the same name, the series is helmed by Noriyuki Abe. It stars Madenokoji Arikoto, Tokugawa Iemitsu, Gyokuei, Lady Kasuga, Sutezo and Tokugawa Yoshimune.
The one-minute-47-second-long trailer is set in the magnificent city of Edo, where a reversal of gender roles spurs a whirl of emotions.
Ōoku: The Inner Chambers will start streaming on Netflix from June 29.
Swiping America
HBO Max released the official trailer of its upcoming romantic documentary series Swiping America on Monday.
The two-minute=nine-second-long trailer follows a diverse group of singles from New York City. They use a dating app to reflect on their personal experiences with sex, relationships, love and connection.
Swiping America will premiere on Max on June 15.
