Re-releases of the week

Alongside the new films hitting theatres this week, a slew of old classics are returning to the big screen as well. This includes Yash Chopra’s Veer Zaara, bringing back the romance between Veer (Shah Rukh Khan) and Zaara (Preity Zinta) set against the backdrop of strained India-Pakistan relations.

Rahi Anil Barve’s visually-rich horror-fantasy Tumbbad is also back to haunt audiences. Set in colonial India, the film follows Vinayak Rao’s (Sohum Shah) obsessive quest for a cursed treasure.

Tujhe Meri Kasam, which marked Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s acting debut in 2003, is also returning to the screens. Directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar, Tujhe Meri Kasam is a heartwarming romantic drama about childhood friends discovering their love for each other.

Also hitting theatres this week are old-time classic Padosan and Bombay to Goa. The 1968 comedy film Padosan — starring Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Mehmood, and Kishore Kumar — revolves around Bhola (Dutt) as he falls for his neighbour, Bindu (Banu), leading to a hilarious battle of wits and music.

A light-hearted road-trip comedy, Bombay to Goa follows Mala (Aruna Irani) as she escapes danger by boarding a bus to Goa, with Ravi (Amitabh Bachchan) stepping in as her protector. With Mehmood providing comic relief as the bus conductor, this is a feel-good film packed with fun and laughter.
