The filming for Season 4 of the popular Amazon Prime Video series The Boys is complete, showrunner Eric Kripke announced on Wednesday.
“As of today, #TheBoys #Season4 is completely, totally, absolutely DONE. I’m really grateful & so proud of this cast & crew. Could be our best yet. Can’t wait to unleash it onto the world. Coming June 13 on @PrimeVideo @TheBoysTV #theboystv,” Kripke, also known for creating the CW drama series Supernatural, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Fans flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages for the team. Some of them expressed their excitement by sharing pictures and gifs of Karl Urban as Billy Butcher and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy from the series.
“In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late,” reads the official synopsis of the upcoming season by Amazon MGM Studios.
The third season of the Emmy-winning series ended with the Boys fighting Homelander (Antony Starr) and Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), leaving the hero team in shambles. With Butcher nearing his end, Soldier Boy in federal custody, Homelander escalating his actions, Maeve losing her powers and Victoria Neuman ascending as the US vice president, The Boys Season 4 concluded on a grim note.
Three episodes of the upcoming season will be released on June 13 on Amazon Prime Video followed by a new episode each week. The finale episode of The Boys Season 4 will be released on July 18.
Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will join the cast of The Boys in the upcoming season. Returning cast members include Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti.
Adapted from the popular comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is created and developed by Kripke, who is also the executive producer for the show. The series, which bagged an Emmy in 2021 for outstanding drama series, is backed by Ennis and Robertson.
