The Academy shared Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic entry scene from Karan Johar’s 2001 blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham on the eve of his 59th birthday.

“A mother’s intuition is always right,” the organisation wrote on Instagram, sharing the video on November 1, a day after Diwali.

Set during Diwali at the Raichand mansion, the memorable scene opens with Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Rahul Raichand, arriving dramatically in a black helicopter. His mother, Nandini Raichand (played by Jaya Bachchan), instinctively senses his presence even before she sees him.

Draped in a stunning white sari by Manish Malhotra, she suddenly begins walking toward the entrance as Shah Rukh, dressed in all black, eagerly runs toward his home.

Just as Jaya’s character starts to doubt her intuition, she catches a glimpse of Shah Rukh approaching. He smiles, pointing at her with a knowing gesture, and asks, “Hey mom, how do you sense my presence every time before I arrive?” Nandini smiles through tear-filled eyes, applies tilak to his forehead and gently caresses his face.

Karan Johar shared the video on his Instagram stories. “This post made me smile,” he captioned his post.

Released on December 14, 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham underscores the profound importance of familial bonds. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in key roles, the film has received numerous accolades.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a major commercial success, grossing approximately Rs 119.29 crore worldwide, according to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk.
