Thalapathy Vijay-starrer The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) was off to a phenomenal start at the box office, raking in Rs 126.32 crore gross at the global box office on the opening day, the makers revealed on Friday.
Archana Kalpathi, the creative producer of AGS Entertainment, took to X to share the box office report of the Venkat Prabhu-directed action entertainer.
According to a report by industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, the Vijay-starrer brought in Rs 44 crore nett domestically on Day 1. On Friday, GOAT earned Rs 24.75 crore nett in India in all languages, taking the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 68.75 crore nett. The Tamil version contributed Rs 61.15 crore nett, while the Hindi version minted Rs 3.35 crore nett. The Telugu version brought in Rs 4.25 crore nett.
The report further revealed that GOAT had an impressive 60.38 per cent occupancy in Tamil Nadu and 12.43 per cent for the Hindi version on Friday.
Apart from Vijay, GOAT stars Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ajmal Ameer, Prabhudeva, Jayaram and Prashanth in key roles. The soundtrack of the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The story follows a retired secret agent who must face his son as the adversary on a mission, with Vijay playing dual roles as both father and son.
Vijay’s last big screen appearance was in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo (2023). Earlier this year, the Tamil superstar formed his own political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and announced plans to quit acting after his 69th film.
