Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has announced that Bhushawrgo Bhoyonkawr will mark the end of his journey as a director for Feluda web series on all OTT platforms. In a poignant Facebook post, Mukherji reflected on the five-year adventure that began in 2019 with Chinnomostar Obhishaap and spanned filming locations across Kathmandu, Darjeeling and Kashmir.

Starring Tota Roy Choudhury as Feluda, Anirban Chakrabarti as Jatayu and Kalpan Mitra as Topshe, alongside Rajatava Dutta, Riddhi Sen, Sawon Chakraborty, Debesh Chatterjee, Sumanta Roy and Aniruddha Guha, Bhuswargo Bhoyonkawr will mark the second season of Feludar Goyendagiri. The series will drop on Hoichoi on December 20.

Srijit had also directed two seasons of the Feluda Pherot series for Addatimes — Chinnomostar Obhishaap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute. Chinnomostar Obhishaap debuted on the streamer in 2019, while Jawto Kando Kathmandute is still awaiting release.

Srijit cited budgetary constraints in and restrictions on adapting Satyajit Ray’s Feluda stories for the big screen as reasons for pulling out of the web series. “Despite the best efforts of the team ably supported by first Addatimes, and then Hoichoi, the pan India travel plus the period recreation of Feluda’s adventures have become infeasible to be executed with a web series budget without compromising. And since there is no permission for me to do Feluda as a film, the caravan must stop,” wrote the director of Baishe Srabon and Tekka.

Srijit expressed his gratitude to his team, including actors Tota, Anirban and Kalpan. He also reflected on how his 14-year-old self, Rhiju, was present with him in front of the monitor and brightened up every shoot. “We have, in the Kiplingesque way, treated bouquets and brickbats as the same, learned from both and sought to seek and pray to God in our own way,” he added.

Srijit concluded his post with a touching metaphor, calling Bhushawrgo Bhoyonkawr his Mayfly, a reference to the one-day lifespan of the insect. The film will have a single-day theatrical lifespan, with a special screening scheduled on December 19, at Priya cinema in Kolkata at 6pm.
