Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department shatters more records on its way to Billboard 200 top spot

The American singer-songwriter is gearing up for her European leg of The Eras Tour commencing on May 9

Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department has topped the all-inclusive Billboard 200 albums chart, selling over 2.6 million records and being the most-streamed album ever, the US entertainment portal posted on X on Monday.

Billboard also posted on X that Tortured Poets Department is Swift’s 14th album to claim the spot. The American singer-songwriter is now sharing the second-most No. 1 spot with American rapper Jay-Z on Billboards with The Beatles on top of the list.

The album has gone on to break other records, including achieving the largest streaming album week, the second-highest week in terms of units earned for any album, the third-largest sales week and the biggest sales week for vinyl in the modern era.

Reacting to the news, Swift thanked her fans for the success of her latest album. “My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life,” the Cardigan singer wrote on Instagram alongside some behind-the-scenes pictures from the making of the album.

“Feeling completely overwhelmed. I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough,” she also teased her return for her The Eras Tour after a two-month break.

Swift is now gearing up for the European leg of The Eras Tour in Paris with a series of four consecutive concerts from May 9 to 12 with the rock band Paramore opening the show.
