Taylor Swift’s re-recorded version of her 2014 hit album 1989 will be out on October 27, the singer-songwriter recently announced on Instagram following a heartfelt statement about the upcoming album during her Eras Tour concert in California.

Titled 1989 (Taylor’s version), the album contains songs penned and reimagined by Swift in an effort to “own” her music. The re-recorded album will feature 21 songs including five previously unreleased vault tracks.

“Since I was a teenager, I wanted to own my music and the way to do it was to re-record my albums and call them ‘Taylor's Version’. And the way that you have embraced that, the way that you have celebrated that, you really decided that it was your fight, too, and that you were 100 per cent behind me and that if I cared about it, you cared about it," the 33-year-old said during her concert.

Soon after the concert, Swift took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. “Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVOURITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long,” she wrote alongside a vintage-themed cover of her album.

The original 1989 album, released nine years ago on October 27, 2014, became an instant success with fan-favourite tracks such as Blank Space, Wildest Dreams and Shake it Off.

Following a heated copyright dispute with her former music manager, Scooter Braun, Swift had undertaken a new project called Taylor's Version. So far, she has released re-recorded versions of her albums Speak Now (2023), Fearless (2021) and Red (2021).

1989 (Taylor’s version) is available for pre-order on Taylor’s official website.
