American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department, slated to drop on April 19, became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history on April 18, the audio-streaming service announced on X on Thursday.
“On April 18th, 2024, Taylor Swift's THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history,” wrote Spotify, alongside a poster of the music album, on the microblogging site.
The Blank Space singer recently announced that the music video for Fortnight, the first single from The Tortured Poets Department featuring rapper Post Malone, will drop in the US on April 19 at 8pm ET (5:30 am on April 20 in India). In her post, Swift also expressed her admiration for Malone’s musical experimentation.
“The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring @postmalone I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever. I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight,” wrote the Wildest Dreams singer on Thursday, alongside a monochrome picture of her and Malone on social media.
“Honestly can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at Midnight TONIGHT and see the video at 8pm ET TOMORROW,” she signed off.
The 34-year-old later took to Instagram to tease the release of the upcoming music video. Sharing a clip from Fortnight, the 14-time Grammy-winning singer wrote, “At this hearing, I stand before my fellow members of The Tortured Poets Department with a summary of my findings. Album tonight. Fortnight music video tomorrow at 8pm et.”
Swift’s latest album will drop at midnight on April 19 in the US and at 9:30am on the same day in India.
Featuring 17 new songs and a bonus track, The Tortured Poets Department was first announced by Swift in her acceptance speech at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards after receiving the golden gramophone for best pop vocal album for Midnights this year. Shortly after the live announcement on stage, she shared the news about her brand new album on her social media.
“All’s fair in love and poetry... New album The Tortured Poets Department. Out April 19,” wrote the Lover singer alongside an Instagram carousel featuring the cover of her upcoming album and a short verse.
On February 6, Swift had offered her fans a sneak peek into the track list of her latest album. The new songs include My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), Down Bad, So Long London, But Daddy I Love Him, Fresh Out the Summer, Florida, Guilty as Sin, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, Loml, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, The Alchemy, Clara Bow, the titular track, The Tortured Poets Department, and a bonus track, The Manuscript.
The pop star's post also revealed the names of artistes she will be collaborating with for her new album. While Fortnight will feature Malone, Florida will see the Bad Blood singer teaming up with the rock band Florence and the Machine.
Meanwhile, Swift’s Eras Tour has been extended till November this year and will encompass new locations across the US and Canada.
