Although it’s really difficult to choose a favourite era of Taylor Swift from among all her iconic eras, if I were to mention one particular era which is really close to my heart, it would definitely be 1989. 1989 is her fifth studio album and my childhood was all about jamming to the iconic pop songs of this album, Blank Space and Shake It Off being the two most favourite ones back then and till now. 1989 era asserted her dominance in the pop world and spelled out her storytelling and song writing powers, after which she rose to new heights of success. With the recently released 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and with songs like Blank Space, Style, Welcome to New York being re-recorded, the 1989 era has carved out an even more special place in my heart! The best era of Taylor Swift’s career is now. Having just wrapped up a whopping multi-million dollar resounding extravaganza called The Eras Tour, Taylormania has gripped the world and we are all crooning Shake it off with her . Her Love Story (2004), though one of her initial successes, was the kind of naive and trifling innocent love that every girl feels and believes in. In 2014, her album 1989 featured all-time chartbusters like Bad Blood and Blank Space, where she had transitioned from puppy love to heartbreak angst.
In 2023, with her Eras tour, she has firmly set foot into adult territory, where misgivings about one’s own abilities are rife. Anti-Hero is where she casts doubts on her own self and Cruel Summer and Back to December are where she regrets having tossed aside love for career.
Her candid songs about her own life makes her refreshingly different from a lot of other pop-artistes. She has been honest about her life. Almost too transparent. However, now that we have travelled with Swift together on this journey called life, she is in the best place right now.

Throughout the years, Taylor has gone outside society’s so-called normal standards and made music her own way to become this generation’s greatest singer-songwriter. My favourite Tay-Tay era is Reputation. It has everything in it, the realisation that people are not what they seem to be, the romantic dilemma from a certain point of view, what’s not to like. Her album Reputation came at a time when the world was cancelling Taylor Swift for just being a normal young adult, so I would say it was the perfect comeback from her. Not only did it show that she was beyond all the hate that people unnecessarily spread against her, she also showed us how amazing an artiste she is. Reputation is my favourite era of Taylor’s career.

Asking a Swiftie which era is their favourite is probably the most cruel thing you can do to them. Nevertheless, with much consideration and deep thought, I would say the Reputation era of Taylor Swift’s career is my favourite. Reputation is an album she released after a massive setback in her career. The resilience, the way she “comes back stronger than a ‘90s trend” is one of the reasons why I love her Reputation era.
Another reason is that she manages to put the greatest love songs of all time with revenge songs. Only Taylor Swift can do this and succeed. Absolutely can’t wait for her to own this album as well. Here’s to the Reputation era, and Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

“There will be no further explanation. There will be just reputation”.
As this explains, Reputation was my first Taylor Swift era that got me into her world of phenomenal music. The songs in the album were dark, full of vengeance and anguish. Look what you made me do and Delicate are my favourite from this era. But as Taylor Swift is a musical genius, her song-writing skills amazes me every time she drops her new albums. From the Fearless era, Love Story is my favourite. In Taylor Swift’s version of 1989 she brings in a fresh and catchy vibe with songs like Style, Shake It Off, Don’t Blame Me and Wildest Dreams. From her Lover era, particularly Lover ft. Shawn Mendes, Cruel Summer, Paper Rings, Me!, You Need to Calm Down and Daylight are my picks. Taylor’s latest album Midnights has a special corner in my heart with songs like Midnight Rain, Lavender Haze, Karma and Anti-Hero. All of Taylor Swift’s eras speaks for themselves. Each of them are so distinct yet they still manage to be liked by the audience.

My favourite era of Taylor Swift’s career has to be the Reputation era. The shocking media blackout, the change in genre and aesthetics, the music videos and the album features. The Look What You Made Me Do music video premiere showed that she was coming for those who wronged her with zero hesitation. The Ready for it...? music video was a complete turnaround from her previous style, futuristic and controversial. Collaborations with three rappers, along with Taylor rapping like she was meant to do it all along. And finally, the album being marketed as a revenge saga was actually an unapologetic love letter in itself, with songs like Call It What You Want, Don’t Blame Me. It was like she was finally taking control of her own narrative rather than being excluded from it. Followed by the Reputation Stadium tour which featured some never-before standards of performance, a captivating stage presence, rich vocals, iconic costumes and a literal serpent rising from the stage, it was a concert experience which went down in history. It was the era when the world stopped and finally knew her for what she was and not just who she used to date. She completely rewrote how the world saw her. And she has only been an ascending journey from then on.

According to me, Taylor’s Reputation era was certainly one of her best. It is undoubtedly one of the best-ever comebacks. The songs like Look What You Made Me Do and Don’t Blame Me were really major hits back in the day. It also has some not-so-popular but still quite masterpiece songs like Getaway Car. The live concerts were very popular.

My favourite eras of Taylor Swift are Folklore and Evermore. These two sister albums released during the pandemic were like honey to one’s soul. The songs’ lyrics in these albums are purely poetic and create a peaceful and calm atmosphere. These albums showcase Taylor’s growth in both songwriting and vocals. Folklore and Evermore contain songs about love triangles, unrequited love and heartbreak, making them one of my favourites.

Some years ago, I only listened to ABBA, but one day Anti-Hero started playing and I got acquainted with the beautiful voice and lyrics of Taylor Swift. Then I started exploring her songs though I am not a music aficionado, but I can say her realistic lyrics contains songs for every mood and for every age. Anti-Hero, Blank Space, Enchanted, Willow, Style, Shake It Off, Lover, Cruel Summer are some of my favourites that I listen to daily. All her songs are great. Taylor Swift brings a smile to my face when everything around seems dull and gloomy.

My favourite era of Taylor Swift’s career is Speak Now. It is Swift’s third studio album and released in the year 2010. That album of the world-renowned singer consists of 14 beautiful songs. Although each and every song of that Taylor Swift album is my fave, the very emotional track Dear John is the closest to my heart. According to me, Speak Now is the finest era of Taylor Swift to date.
