The second half of the year has delivered a handful of beautifully choreographed Bollywood songs whose hook steps have become a superhit with Instagram Reels. Here are four clear favourites that have taken over dance floors as well as dance reels.

Tauba Tauba (Bad Newz)

Vicky Kaushal got the entire nation copying his Tauba Tauba moves to Karan Aujla’s chartbuster song from Bad Newz. The choreographer duo — Bosco Martis and Caesar Gondalves — channeled Vicky’s love and passion for hardcore Punjabi songs in this catchy track. This is also the first time we saw the Masaan actor showing off his nimble feet, matching the energy his wife Katrina Kaif brought to her popular dance songs — Kaala Chashma and Chikni Chameli to Kamli.

Teri Baaton Mein (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya)

Raghav Sachar’s 2004 cult indie song Teri Baaton Mein was rearranged by Tanishk Bagchi and Raghav himself to create an absolute banger of a track on which Shahid Kapoor left his stamp. With co-star Kriti Sanon matching step for step, Shahid gets you grooving with this number choreographed by Jani Master as well as Laal Peeli Akhiyaan, another song from the Amit Joshi-Aradhana Sah-directed romantic comedy.

Satyanaas (Chandu Champion)

Choreographed by Bosco-Caesar, the Chandu Champion track featuring Kartik Aaryan has an element of childlike fun and goofiness. Satyanaas has the vibe of the Galti Se Mistake song from Jagga Jasoos where Ranbir Kapoor dances up a storm with his hostel mates. The inside-the-compartment sequence is a throwback to Farhan Akhtar’s Maston Ka Jhund song from Bhag Milkha Bhag, while the train-top sequence is a clear reminder of Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora swaying to Chaiyya Chaiyya in Dil Se.

Soni Soni (Ishq Vishk Rebound)

Composed by Rochak Kohli and choreographed by Vijay Ganguly, the Ishq Vishk Rebound song Soni Soni, featuring Rohit Saraf and Pashmina Roshan, became an instant hit for its melodious tune and rhythm. The easily imitable, uncomplicated steps struck a chord with dance reel enthusiasts on Instagram. Rohit and Jibraan Khan nail the hook step of the other dancey song Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar, also choreographed by Vijay Ganguly, ushering a band of GenZ actors for whom juggling acting and dancing is smooth sailing.
