Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram, popularly known as Vikram, was rushed to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Thursday after he complained of uneasiness and discomfort in his chest ahead of the teaser launch of his upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan: I. The film directed by Mani Ratnam stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, among others.
While some media reports claimed that the 56-year-old underwent angioplasty at the hospital, there was no official confirmation from hospital authorities on the reason behind the actor’s sudden hospitalisation.
Vikram’s manager Suryanarayanan M cleared speculations of heart attack with a tweet.
“Dear fans and wellwishers, Chiyaan Vikram had mild chest discomfort and is being treated for the same. He DID NOT have a heart attack as reports falsely claim. We are pained to hear rumours to this effect. That being said, we request you to give him and the family the privacy they need at this time. Our dear Chiyaan is fine now. He is likely to be discharged from hospital in a day. We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest”.
Vikram, known for his role in 2005 movie Aparichit, is looking forward to two releases this year. He has Ajay Gnanamuthu’s long-delayed Cobra and Mani Ratnam’s epic Ponniyin Selvan: 1 (PS: 1) in his kitty. While Cobra hits the screens on August 11, Ponniyin Selvan: 1 (PS: 1) will release on September 30.
