Indian actress Tabu is set to play Sister Francesca in the upcoming Max prequel series Dune: Prophecy, US-based magazine Variety reported on Tuesday.
According to the official synopsis, Dune: Prophecy unfolds in the vast universe of Frank Herbert's fictional world a staggering 10,000 years prior to Paul Atreides' rise. It chronicles the journey of two Harkonnen sisters as they confront existential threats to humanity's destiny and lay the groundwork for the Bene Gesserit order.
This series draws inspiration from the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The release date of the series is yet to be announced.
Production house Legendary shared the Variety report on their Instagram story on Tuesday.

The variety report describes Tabu’s role as “strong, intelligent, and alluring Sister Francesca”. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital, writes Variety.
Originally commissioned in 2019 under the working title Dune: The Sisterhood, the series also features Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Johdi May, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Mark Strong, Chloe Lea, Josh Heuston, Jade Anouka, Edward Davis, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Chris Mason.
Tabu was last seen in Crew, directed by Rajesh A. Krishnan. The film also featured Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
Her upcoming project, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, alongside Ajay Devgn, is set to be directed by Neeraj Pandey. Scheduled for release on July 5, this romantic drama also stars Jimmy Shergill, Saiee Manjrekar, and Shantanu Maheshwari.
