SVF Music’s Banglar Gaan Indies aims to redefine Bengali music for the new generation 

Revival of Bengali independent music places central focus on showcasing young talents, including singers, lyricists, composers, and sound engineers

In the dynamic realm of streaming audio platforms and social media, Indie music has earned substantial acclaim. Last year, SVF Music introduced Banglar Gaan Indies, presenting a fresh soundscape with a new line-up of artistes and songs tailored to resonate with the Gen Z audience. This Indie initiative by SVF Music serves as an exploration of innovative song concepts and emerging musical talents, marked by the release of four-five independent songs every month in collaboration with new musicians. It has created a space for unique voices and innovative compositions in the ever-evolving landscape of independent music.

The revival of Bengali independent music places a central focus on showcasing young talents, including singers, lyricists, composers, and sound engineers. The culmination of these efforts has resulted in an audio album now available on all streaming platforms, accompanied by the release of each song in lyrical video format under a single playlist on YouTube. Tumi Jaao

Known for his playback singing in both Bengali and Hindi films, Ishan Mitra showcases versatility as the composer, audio programmer, and sound engineer for the track. This composition, led by Aviman Paul, stands out for its genre versatility, pushing the boundaries of traditional composition and production. Tumi jaao is a reflection on life’s journey with thought-provoking lyrics, complemented by a slow-paced, acoustic melody and captivating visual enhancements. “Tumi jaao is very close to my heart. I have sung many songs for SVF Music but this project is special as I’ve never made such a song before,” said Ishan.

Shudhui Aaj Ekhon

Another evocative piece in the line-up is Shudhui aaj ekhon, featuring Mainak Bhattacharya on vocals and Niladri Banerjee as the creative force behind the lyrics and composition. The song’s atmospheric immersion, incorporating authentic street sounds and rain, makes it stand apart. Niladri’s diverse musical exploration, coupled with the production skills of Samannay Samanta, Aryak Sen, and Jayanta Sarkar, creates a rich sonic experience that delves into various themes.

Sawariya

Sawariya presents the artistic prowess of Pralay Sarkar in composition and lyrics, complemented by the versatile vocals of Shovan Ganguly. The song seamlessly integrates stream sounds and echoes, adding cultural richness with the use of Brajabuli language. Sawariya weaves a vivid mental landscape for listeners with its thematic focus on a beloved, intertwined with natural imagery.

Raat Holey

The duo of Debayan Banerjee and Anis Ahmed collaborate on Raat holey that showcases their multifaceted talent. With Debayan as the singer, Pralay Sarkar enriches the song with meaningful verses, creating a dynamic narrative set amidst nature. The immersive sound design contributes to the overall richness of Raat holey, dramatising various emotions. “Releasing original songs hits differently, it’s about owning a song and SVF Music has always given me the platform to showcase my experimental originals,” said Debayan.
