Production banner SVF announced a lineup of four Bengali films including a social drama by Srijit Mukherji and a horror movie starring Subhashree Ganguly at the Maha Mahurat event held in Kolkata earlier today.

“Four directors. Four new stories. A grand start of Maha Mahurat,” the official handle of the production house posted on X along with a poster.

The eagerly awaited releases for the year include an yet-untitled family drama, to be helmed by Raj Chakrabarty. Raj will be collaborating with SVF after a hiatus of six years. He had previously helmed Adventures Of Jojo under the SVF banner in 2018. The upcoming film features an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Ritwick Chakraborty, Subhashree Ganguly, Anashua Majumdar, and Sohini Sengupta.

Srijit Mukherji, who delivered the blockbuster Dawshom Awbotaar with SVF last year, is set to direct a thought-provoking social drama. Titled Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Kaushik Ganguly, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rudranil Ghosh, Sauraseni Maitra, Riddhi Sen, Kanchan Mullick, Satyam Bhattacharya, Ritwick Chakraborty, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Kaushik Sen.

Debaloy Bhattacharya will be reuniting with Subhashree Ganguly for a horror thriller. The duo received critical acclaim in 2023 for the poignant web series Indubala Bhaater Hotel. Earlier this year, Debaloy had helmed the first-ever big-screen project from Hoichoi Studios — Shri Swapankumarer Badami Hyenar Kobole.

Ekendra Sen a.k.a Ekenbabu will be returning for a new adventure, this time in Russia. To be helmed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the film will feature Anirban Chakrabarti as the much-loved detective, alongside Somak Ghosh as Promotho and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay as Bapi. The film is slated to release during Durga Puja.

Apart from these titles, SVF also has three other films lined up for release this year. The list includes Soukarya Ghosal's Pokkhirajer Dim that will transport viewers into an imaginative fantasy world. Veteran theatre director Arna Mukhopadhyay will make his directorial debut with an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello, titled Athhoi. Anirban Bhattacharya will serve as the creative director for this project. That apart, Rahasya Romancha series director Abhirup Ghosh will add to the excitement with an innovative love story starring two promising debutants.
