Sushmita Sen’s daughter Renee Sen worked as an intern assistant director on the sets of Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri-starrer romcom Bad Newz, she revealed on Thursday, dropping a set of behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot.

“I’m so grateful to our director @anandntiwari. “Working on Bad Newz has been nothing short of gratifying. It was as good as going to film school…or maybe better…Our wonderful crew has taught me so much and I’ve made friends for life,” she added in her thank-you note on Instagram.

The carousel captures Renee working with the team. In one of the pictures, she poses with Anand for the lens, while in another she is seen going through the script with him. The final picture of the series shows Renee working behind the camera while Vicky and Triptii perform onstage.

Renee also shared a snap of the film’s closing credits featuring her name.

Released theatrically on July 19, Bad Newz, also starring Ammy Virk, has so far earned Rs 8.30 crore nett at the domestic box office.

Earlier this year, Sushmita had penned a note on her daughter’s first performance in a play attended by theatre veterans like actress-singer Ila Arun at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House.

“To witness @reneesen47 perform live in her first ever play, that too surrounded by stalwarts of theatre…My heart is full. A very proud moment indeed for the entire family, friends, and well-wishers. As for me…I was simply overwhelmed,” Sushmita had written on Instagram alongside a video that also featured her parents and her former boyfriend Rohman Shawl.

The montage showed Sushmita, her parents and Rohman wishing Renee before her performance.

Renee was last seen in Kabeer Khurana’s short film Suttabaazi (2020). The storyline revolved around a 19-year-old social media star and clandestine smoker. The film also starred Komal Chhabria and Rahul Vohra in key roles.
