Suriya’s ancient tribal warrior is reborn as a modern-day cop to avenge a betrayal in the release trailer of Siva’s Kanguva, a fantasy drama set across two parallel timelines.

Dropped by Saregama Music on Sunday, the one-minute-30-second-long trailer also offers a glimpse of Bobby Deol’s antagonist Udhiran, who sports deer horns and is seemingly blind in one eye.

The trailer begins with a voiceover warning viewers about Kanguva's formidable power. "When lions roar in the densest forests and lightning strikes the earth, one must realise that Kanguva has arrived," the voiceover declares. The scene that follows shows Suriya riding a horse as a lion-hearted warrior from the medieval era, before transitioning to his modern-day avatar.

Dressed in an all-white suit, smeared with blood, Suriya’s cop takes down his adversaries single-handedly.

The trailer offers glimpses of intense battle sequences set in spectacular locations — from vast forests to snow-covered mountains. In one of the scenes, sharks leap out of the ocean, attempting to devour Kanguva, who overpowers the beasts and also impales an adversary.

Towards the end of the video, a dramatic moment showcases Suriya's modern-day cop chasing an airplane on a bike that springs into the air.

Kanguva marks the Tamil cinema debut of Disha Patani and Bobby Deol. In addition to Suriya, Bobby and Disha, the film features Jagapathi Babu, Natty Natarajan, KS Ravikumar and Kovai Sarala in key roles.

Touted as a “saga of a mighty valiant hero”, Kanguva will hit theatres on November 14. The film will stream on Prime Video after its theatrical release.

While the film's cinematography is by Vetri Palanisamy, Devi Sri Prasad has composed the soundtrack for the actioner.
