Actor Suriya has begun shooting for Karthik Subbaraj’s upcoming directorial, tentatively titled Suriya 44, he announced on Sunday, sharing a video of the first shot for the movie.
Also starring Pooja Hegde, the upcoming film reportedly explores environmental conservation. “Lights! Camera!! Action!!! #LoveLaughterWar #AKarthikSubbarajPadam Shoot in progress,” the 48-year-old actor wrote alongside the video shared on X.
The video shows Suriya from behind, focusing on his retro look in a striped shirt and blue pants. He gazes at the sea in front of him with a haunting score playing in the background. At the end of the video, the actor turns around to look into the camera and smiles.
Earlier, Suriya had dropped a first-look poster of the film. It shows a vintage car engulfed in flames. A tree appears in the foreground with an arrow carving through its bark. “Love, laughter, war,” reads the tagline engraved on the trunk of the tree.
Subbaraj is known for directing films like Jigarthanda, the Rajinikanth-starrer Petta and Vijay Sethupathi’s Pizza.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva, directed by Siva, will feature the actor in six different roles. The movie will be released in 10 languages including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil.
Produced under the banner of Studio Green, Kanguva will mark Bobby Deol and Disha Patani’s Tamil debut. The release date of the period action drama has not been announced yet.
