Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj on Friday dropped a poster of actor Suriya’s upcoming film, tentatively titled Suriya 44, to mark 27 years of the latter’s acting debut.
“27 years of Awesomeness!! Hearty wishes to #TheOne @Suriya_offl Sir from team #Suriya44 ,” he wrote alongside the poster that features Suriya riding a bike.
Helmed by Subbaraj, Suriya 44 also stars Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran in pivotal roles. This marks Subbaraj's 12th directorial venture and his first collaboration with Suriya.
Suriya's upcoming fantasy action thriller Kanguva, directed by Siruthai Siva, was initially slated for an October 10 release. However, the date was postponed to avoid a clash with Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan. The makers are yet to officially confirm a new release date for Kanguva.
The actor was last seen in the Akshay Kumar-led film Sarfira, released on July 12, where he played a cameo role of an unnamed businessman.
The actor's debut film, Nerrukku Ner, also featuring Thalapathy Vijay, Simran, and Kausalya, was released on September 6, 1997. The Mani Ratnam-backed film was a massive success at the box office and secured two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in the same year.
