Actress Jyotika dropped a teaser revealing her husband Suriya’s gangster look from his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 44, with filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, on Wednesday, a couple of days after the actor celebrated his 44th birthday.

The one-minute-37-second-long teaser kicks off with a shot of an ocean with the words “somewhere in the sea” flashing across the screen. Next, we see a gang of goons standing on either side of a building named Royal Estate. “A war…awaits for…the one,” reads the tagline of the teaser.

Suriya makes his entry with a blood-stained face and takes a gun from one of the goons, with an intense score playing in the background. The teaser ends with Suriya facing the camera and firing a shot from his gun.

“An unveiling maverick, ready to conquer. Join the frenzy for #LoveLaughterWar and beyond! Happy Birthday THE ONE. #HappyBirthdaySuriya #HBDTheOneSuriya. Wishes from team #Suriya44,” Jyotika, who has produced the film under her and Suriya’s banner 2D Entertainment, captioned the teaser on Instagram.

The makers had previously dropped a teaser on July 23 to mark Suriya’s birthday on that day. “Happy Birthday @Suriya_offl Sir. From Team #Suriya44,” Subbaraj, known for directing films like Rajinikanth-starrer Petta and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Pizza, had written alongside the teaser.

Last month, Suriya dropped a video to announce the beginning of the film’s production. “Lights! Camera!! Action!!! #LoveLaughterWar #AKarthikSubbarajPadam Shoot in progress,” the 49-year-old actor wrote alongside the video shared on X.

Also starring Pooja Hegde, Suriya 44 reportedly explores environmental conservation.

Meanwhile, Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva, directed by Siva, will feature the actor in six different roles. The movie will be released in 10 languages including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil.
