Today is not April 1... so we are not trying to fool you. Suniel Shetty has actually won the Best Actor Award at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York for the film Red Alert — The War Within! Forget the competition from other films, Shetty was chosen above his co-actors Naseeruddin Shah, Vinod Khanna and Ashish Vidyarthi.
Directed by Ananth Mahadevan, Red Alert has been making the right noises because of its depiction of the Naxalite Movement. Besides the prize for Shetty, the film premiered at Stuttgart where it won the Director’s Vision Award. The German press also gave the film two thumbs up.
Galen Rosenthal, head of programming for the South Asian International Film Festival, said about the film: “We would very much like to have the North American Premiere of Red Alert. We absolutely love your film and would be honoured to screen it.”
The film will have its Asian premiere at the Indian International Film Festival in Goa later this month. The film also stars Sameera Reddy, Seema Biswas, Ayesha Dharker, Gulshan Grover and Bhagyashree.
