Suicide Squad Isekai anime, a joint venture of DC, Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio, will hit Crunchyroll on July 5, the streamer announced on Friday.

Isekai refers to a genre of Japanese fiction, particularly in anime and manga, where protagonists are transported from their ordinary world to a fantastical or parallel universe.

“NEWS: Suicide Squad ISEKAI Anime Premieres July 5,” Crunchyroll wrote on Instagram.

The upcoming anime series will follow A.R.G.U.S. head Amanda Waller who sends supervillain Harley Quinn and other Suicide Squad members — Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface and King Shark — on a peacekeeping mission to a world filled with blood-thirsty beasts.

The makers recently dropped a first-look of Clayface, voiced by Jun Fukuyama, who is known for lending his voice to the protagonist Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass.

Anna Nagase, known for voicing Riko Amanai from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (2023), is the voice actor for Harley Quinn in the anime. She will be joined by Yuichiro Umehara, who previously voiced the titular character of the anime Goblin Slayer (2018).

The story of Suicide Squad Isekai has been written by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, who created the 2021 sci-fi anime Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song. It is created by Japanese WIT Studio, which is well known for animating the first three seasons of Attack on Titan (2013-19), Spy x Family (2022) and Ranking of Kings (2022).

The opening theme of the anime is called Another World and is performed by Tomoyasu Hotei, best known for his song Battle Without Honor or Humanity that was used in Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 feature film Kill Bill.
