Shraddha Kapoor’s unnamed witch and Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky face off against a headless monster in the latest trailer of Stree 2, a sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy, also featuring a cameo dance performance by Tamannaah Bhatia.

Dropped on Thursday, the two-minute-54-second-long trailer introduces the headless monster Sirkata who goes around kidnapping girls in Chanderi. It kicks off with Pankaj Tripathi’s voiceover saying that the monster has been destined to arrive in their town after the disappearance of Stree from Chanderi. After a light-hearted banter between Tripathi’s Rudra and Abhishek Banerjee’s Jana, the trailer shows Shraddha’s witch coming back to Chanderi, which makes Vicky jump with excitement.

Soon, we see the headless monster influencing all the men in Chanderi, turning them to his side. Keeping in line with the concept of the film franchise, which satirises the restrictions imposed on women, the trailer hints at the upcoming film taking the social criticism to a different level.

Shraddha, who acquired the powers of Stree after tangling a chunk of the ghost’s braid with her own in the first film, takes matters into her own hands and goes after the monster. Vicky accompanies her to the monster’s lair, where they solve the mystery together and rid their town of evil.

Tamannaah Bhatia also makes an appearance in the trailer as a dancer. Varun Dhawan is expected to make a cameo appearance in the film

The 2018 horror comedy Stree is set in a small town where an evil spirit named Stree abducts men at night during the festive season.

Also featuring Vijay Raaz and Aparshakti Khurana, the sequel is penned by the writer of the original movie Niren Bhatt and backed by Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios.

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is slated to release on August 15, the same day Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 will arrive in the cinemas.
