Varun Dhawan and Rajkummar Rao compete with each other to woo Shraddha Kapoor, triggering memories of Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham’s playful rivalry over Priyanka Chopra in the 2008 chartbuster Desi Girl, in the music video of Stree 2 song Khoobsurat.

Dropped by record label Saregama Music on Friday, the four-minute-long video opens with Varun reprising his role as Bhediya from the Maddock Supernatural Universe’s second instalment of the same name. He arrives at an old haveli with a friend and becomes captivated by the unparalleled beauty of Shraddha’s unnamed witch. Varun goes on to extol the witch’s beauty as the video offers glimpses of their sizzling on-screen chemistry.

Much like Priyanka in Desi Girl, Shraddha looks stunning in a sari and a backless blouse. But Rajkummar’s Vicky enters the scene and gets upset to find Varun dancing with Shraddha. He attempts to steal her away from Bhediya, but Shraddha repeatedly leaves him to return to Varun.

Towards the end of the video, Shraddha’s witch mysteriously vanishes into thin air, while Rajkummar and Varun exit the haveli, leaning on each other’s shoulders. Their camaraderie is once again reminiscent of the bond between John and Abhishek in Dostana.

Khoobsurat is sung by Vishal Mishra, Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya. Amitabh Bhattacharya serves as the lyricist and Vijay Ganguly as the choreographer.

A trailer of Stree 2 dropped by production house Maddock Films last month shows Shraddha’s unnamed witch and Rajkummar’s Vicky facing off against a headless monster Sirkata, who goes around kidnapping girls in Madhya Pradesh's Chanderi.

The original 2018 film recounted how Shraddha acquired the powers of Stree after tangling a chunk of the ghost’s braid with her own.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel also stars Vijay Raaz, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, Tamannaah Bhatia and Abhishek Banerjee in key roles. The upcoming horror comedy is penned by Niren Bhatt, the writer of the original movie, and backed by Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios.

Stree 2 is slated to clash with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa in cinemas on August 15.
