Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2 is inching closer to replacing Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time at the domestic box office after a successful fourth weekend in theatres, according to latest trade reports out on Monday.
The Amar Kaushik-helmed horror comedy film collected Rs 551.44 crore nett by Monday, according to the makers.
The Atlee-helmed action thriller Jawan had earned Rs 581 crore nett in India in 2023. However, Stree 2 is unlikely to beat Jawan’s total collection across languages (Rs 643 crore nett).
The fifth instalment in the Maddock Films’ supernatural comedy universe, Stree 2 began its box office journey on August 15 with an opening day collection of Rs 64.8 crore nett. The film minted Rs 307.8 crore nett in the first week, followed by Rs 145.8 crore nett in Week 2. In the third week, the Amar Kaushik-directorial added another Rs 72.83 crore nett to its collection. Stree 2 has earned Rs 25.01 crore nett in its fourth week so far.
While the dream run for Stree 2 continues in Week 4, Thalapathy Vijay-starrer The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is also dominating the box office. The Venkat Prabhu-directed action entertainer crossed the Rs 100-crore milestone at the domestic box office over the weekend.
The Greatest of All Time began its theatrical run with a collection of Rs 44 crore nett on Day 1, followed by Rs 25.5 crore nett on the second day. It added another Rs 67.7 crore nett to the earnings over the weekend, taking the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 137.2 crore nett so far.
The Tamil version of GOAT contributed the most to the film’s earnings, raking in Rs 121.05 crore nett. The Hindi version fetched Rs 8.3 crore nett while the Telugu version earned Rs 7.85 crore nett.
