Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao began its second week at the box office with Rs 19.30 crore nett on Friday, taking its total collection to Rs 327.10 crore nett so far.
The Amar Kaushik-helmed horror comedy has emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024, overtaking the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD, which earned Rs 292.98 crore nett in India, and is now eyeing the prestigious Rs 400-crore milestone.
Also featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in key roles, Stree 2 began its box office journey with a collection of Rs 64.8 crore nett on opening day (including paid previews). The film minted Rs 35.3 crore nett on Day 2, followed by Rs 103.9 crore nett over the weekend.
The momentum continued during the weekdays as the latest entrant to the Maddock Films’ supernatural comedy universe minted Rs 103.8 crore nett from Monday to Thursday.
As per trade analysts, Stree 2 is expected to comfortably cross Rs 350-crore mark in India by the end of its second weekend, with Rs 400-crore club likely within the next week.
Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer Vedaa, which released in theatres on the same day as Stree 2, managed to earn Rs 0.62 crore nett and Rs 0.22 crore nett on Friday. Their total collections at the domestic box office now amount to Rs 19.97 crore nett and Rs 17.82 crore, respectively.
