Olympian Dutee Chand is set to compete in Season 10 of celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, the first episode of which aired on September 3 on Colors TV.
“I’ve never imagined myself performing different dance forms and competing against such stellar performers. Having said that, as a sportsperson, I love taking on new challenges that are thrown at me,” said the 26-year-old sprinter, the only Indian to have won a gold medal in a 100 metre race at the international level.
Dutee, who last competed in Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August 2022, will be choreographed by Ravina. Known as the fastest woman of India, Dutee is the fifth Indian woman to qualify for the Women’s 100 metres in the Olympics. She also won the silver medal in women’s 100 metre at Jakarta Asian Games.
The 2020 Arjuna award winner added, “I am used to performing in front of live viewers, but this is going to be a new experience altogether. Learning any new art form is not easy but with the help of my choreographer, I am excited to take this up as a challenge and perform to the best of my capabilities.”
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, hosted by Maniesh Paul airs every Saturday and Sunday on Colors TV at 8pm. Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Nora Fatehi are the judges for the reality show.
