After winning hearts with the 2022 film, The Eken, Eken Babu, the lovable, quirky detective, is back with The Eken — Ruddhaswas Rajasthan, which releases on April 14. The mystery thriller directed by Joydeep Mukherjee centres on Eken Babu (Anirban Chakrabarti) and his two companions played by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Somak Ghosh. While on vacation in Rajasthan, a mystery unravels. Professor of archaeology at Oxford University, Shatadru Ghosh, played by Rajatava Dutta, alerts Eken Babu about an idol he had seen in London that has gone missing. The film also stars Rajesh Sharma who plays a professor of chemistry and a relic preserver. t2 snapshots the key characters.

The endearing investigator is eccentric and quick-witted, and his courage is his armour in a moment of crisis. He gets entangled in such situations at times that can only elicit laughter. Unlike other private eyes, Eken Babu is extremely effervescent, also a connoisseur of food, but this time, while on vacation in Rajasthan, he comes across circumstances that set off the inquiry for a theft and murder mystery. “Eken Babu is a special figure in my journey. We spent a lot of time filming in Rajasthan, and the audience will undoubtedly enjoy this captivating experience,” said Anirban.

RJ Somak Ghosh plays the role of Pramatha in this thriller. Pramatha is Eken’s companion along with Bapi. He is an empiricist at the University of Chicago. “Honestly, being a part of this franchise always feels amazing, and the audience never fails to demonstrate their appreciation for us. They think of us as their own. The Eken is now a cult figure and we would love our audience to join their favourite Bengali detective on the big screen this Poila Baisakh,” said Suhotra and Somak.

Rajatava Dutta plays professor Satadru Ghosh, an archaeologist currently residing in England who informs Eken Babu about his concerns regarding an idol he had seen in London that is missing. However, the professor’s whereabouts are in question. He claims to be an honest man but is he really hiding an agenda?

Sandipta Sen plays the role of a curator at the Jaisalmer Museum. “Eken is loved by all age groups, and it was quite a fun experience shooting in the exotic locations of Rajasthan. Since I cannot reveal much about my character, the audience needs to wait for the release... and fingers crossed, hope they’ll love it,” said Sandipta.
