Starring: Koel Mallick, Rwitobroto Mukherjee, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Basabdatta Chatterjee

The thriller stars Koel as Swarnaja, a hard-working do-gooder radio jockey. Brought up by her grandmother, Swarnaja is in pursuit of a truth. The film is also about celebrating the hero within. “Durga Puja symbolises the good winning over evil. In the present scenario, the pandemic is the evil and people are fighting it out. Everything has undergone a lot of change. Our industry is big, and with theatres closing down, it was a big jolt to the industry. Now people are trying to get back to normalcy. Our film is releasing at a time when people are wishing to get out of their houses. Emotionally people are low now. With entertainment, they might feel good… you might have a better way to deal with the things around you when you are emotionally at a better place,” said
Koel Mallick.

Guldasta

Director: Arjunn Dutta

Starring: Swastika Mukherjee, Arpita and Debjani Chatterjee

This film encapsulates the journey of three women intertwined in a web of emotions. The story is all about their interpersonal relationships, hardships and ecstasies. “Finally Guldasta is releasing this Puja, and I am very excited... it’s a heartwarming tale of human emotions, which is surely going to touch hearts. Our team has given 100 per cent to this project... hopefully people will connect with the story, which is very simple and relatable and during these tough times Guldasta imparts hope,” said director Arjunn Dutta.

Shaheber Cutlet

Director: Anjan Dutt

Starring: Arjun Chakrabarty, Anjan Dutt, Anindita Bose and Suprabhat Das

The light-hearted, fun, musical film celebrates life despite all problems and crises. “This film is a very special film for me because for the first time I have tried to make an opera, a musical in its truest form. It’s funny, wacky. Here the actors sing themselves. I have tried to celebrate life and love, very similar to the stories in my songs. I am pretty confident that people will go to the theatres after a long break this Puja, since all safety measures are being taken by the theatres. If people are going to a restaurant or their offices, then they will surely go for a heartwarming 110-minute film,” said Anjan Dutt.

Dracula Sir

Director: Debaloy Bhattacharya

Starring: Mimi Chakraborty and Anirban Bhattacharya
It’s about a primary school teacher who has a protruding pair of canine teeth, which earns him the nickname Dracula Sir. There is a sense of familiarity since Mimi’s character looks like Pupe from Gaaner Oparey.

“Now that we have learnt to live with the new normal, it’s time we get back to our beloved big-screen experience with safety protocols and guidelines. Like every year, SVF will have its Puja release and we are starting off with Dracula Sir this year. This film will see powerful performances by Anirban and Mimi and we have good expectations from this film,” said Mahendra Soni, director and co-founder, SVF Entertainment. Dracula Sir releases on October 16.

SOS Kolkata

Director: Anshuman Pratyush

Starring: Yash, Nusrat Jahan, Mimi Chakraborty and Ena Saha

The film revolves around a suspected terrorist attack and how the army, police and the common people come together to save lives. “Everyone has a hero inside and this film will serve as inspiration. It is a powerful film with a strong message. Inspired from a true story, the film has star power, realistic action, beautiful locations, glamorous costumes, romance and emotion. It is entertainment on a grand scale,” said Ena. SOS Kolkata is produced by Jarek Entertainment — Ena’s production house — and Pratyush Production.
