Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse minted Rs 27 crore nett in the opening week in India, surpassing its predecessor Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s collection during the same period by almost four times.
Released in 2018, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse managed to earn only Rs 9.15 crore nett during its opening weekend run.
After an average opening-day collection of Rs 4.2 crore, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse minted only Rs 3.34 crore nett on the second day. The collection picked up over the weekend, raking in Rs 11.3 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse maintained its momentum over the weekdays, adding to its kitty Rs 2.3 crore nett on Monday, Rs 2.2 crore nett on Tuesday and Rs 2.1 crore nett on Wednesday. It added Rs 1.5 crore nett more on Thursday, taking the film’s total collection so far to Rs 27 crore nett.
The animated adventure saga is performing well at the global box office too. It has grossed USD 247 million so far worldwide, out of which it collected USD 159 million in the US and USD 87 million from the overseas market.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse features Shameik Moore as the voice of Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as the voice of Gwen Stacy. Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, with Daniel Kaluuya and Oscar Isaac are also part of the film’s ensemble cast.
