“Being part of a thriller is always exciting yet demanding for any actor. My character has various shades associated with it and that has been a great responsibility to portray. To get into the skin of the character, we tried on various looks that brought out a well-etched character. Magpie, a global sensation, was always a story waiting to cross borders and be adapted for the Indian audience. I am glad to be part of this story with filmmakers like Chandan (Arora, the show’s director) at the helm, backed by a stellar cast, and talented writing, creative, and production teams. It’s a collective endeavour to honour the show’s legacy and ensure an unforgettable journey for our audience.”

A crime drama that has an 11-part first season and an eight-part second outing, Magpie will be the third Israeli series after Fauda (adapted as Tanaav) and Kvodo (Your Honor) to make its way to SonyLIV.

Magpie tells the story of Asa Katz, a man in prison for murder, who is released early on the condition that he cooperates with the police as their informant — a role known as a ‘magpie’ that he also had in jail. He returns to his old neighbourhood and his indifferent older brother but numerous conflicting interests put him in precarious situations, and he finds himself torn between his life of crime and his work with the police, while skilfully navigating both worlds to his advantage.
