Actress Sonam Kapoor opened up about her postpartum journey in a note on Thursday, revealing that it took her 16 months to “feel like herself” after giving birth to her son Vayu in August 2022.

Sharing pictures of herself from a photoshoot on Instagram, the 38-year-old actress, who tied the knot with Anand Ahuja in May 2018, wrote about how she juggled motherhood and self-care at the same time. “It’s taken me 16 months to feel like myself again. Slowly steadily without any crash diets and crazy workouts just consistent self care and baby care,” she wrote.

Reflecting on her journey, the Neerja actress had a positive approach to her struggles. “I’m not there yet but almost where I want to be.. still very very grateful for my body and how incredible it has been. Being a woman is a wondrous thing,” Sonam concluded her note.

In the pictures, Sonam looks gorgeous in a white lehenga with golden borders as she poses in her living room. She went for subtle makeup with kohl eyes and a nude lip shade. The Raanjhanaa actress tied her hair up in a bun and opted for pearl jewellery.

Earlier, Sonam had shared how the last year was a rollercoaster for her as she and Anand were still trying to fit into the roles of parents.

“Coming to accept the fact that we are parents and all the joys and fears that came with it. Understanding that I had changed drastically emotionally, physically and spiritually and that comes with pain, acceptance and eventually exhilaration,” she wrote alongside a highlight reel of her best moments from 2023.

Sonam also opened up about Anand suffering from an undiagnosable illness and eventually recovering from it. “It was three months of hell and thank you God and Dr Sarin,” she wrote. The actress further wrote that while she dealt with the struggle of shifting houses four times last year, she also learnt to support her husband in his line of work and spent more time with her family.

The Bollywood actress was last seen in Shome Makhija’s 2023 thriller Blind alongside Vinay Pathak and Danesh Razvi. She currently has the film adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s novel Battle for Bittora in the pipeline.
