Actress Sonam Kapoor, who is set to return to movies with the JioCinema crime thriller Blind after a couple of years, recently made clear that she wants to focus on doing two projects every year.
In a recent interview, The Zoya Factor actress said she missed being on the set and wanted to be in front of the camera again. “I took two years off as I was pregnant and then wanted to take some time off with my son. Two years are not done yet and I have signed onto two projects — one show and one film that I will start working on.. my idea is to do two pieces of content every year, that’s it, not more because I want to spend time with my family as well.”
Sonam, who made her Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007, is also a global fashion icon. She has constantly attended events for luxury fashion design houses across the world and made fashion statements on red carpets.
Explaining the increasing impact of Indian celebrities in the fashion industry, the 38-year-actress said social media and the OTT revolution are bringing in more recognition for these celebrities. “International brands are taking Indian actors as brand ambassadors and showcasing them more because they realise the power of Indian celebrities. It is interesting to see that now since the world is getting smaller because of social media and OTT, the recognition is coming easier,” she observed.
Sonam will be soon seen in Blind in which she plays a visually-impaired character who gets involved in a cat-and-mouse chase with Purab Kohli’s ruthless serial killer. The Shome Makhija directorial is a remake of 2011’s South Korean film of the same name and will be streaming on JioCinema from July 7.
