Sonakshi Sinha is missing her parents and can’t wait to get home to taste her favourite sindhi curry, the actress shared on Sunday, dropping a series of pictures of herself with her dad Shatrughan Sinha and mum Poonam Sinha from her wedding day.
The Bollywood star, who married her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal on June 23 in Mumbai, shared how her mother had broken down during the wedding after realising that Sonakshi would be moving out of their house in Bandra to her new home in Juhu.
“At the wedding Maa started crying when it hit her i would be moving out of the house, i told her ‘Maa, dont worry… juhu to bandra only 25 mins’. Missing them a lil extra today, so I’m telling myself the exact same thing. Hope theres Sunday sindhi curry made at home…See you soon… zoom zoom zoom,” wrote the 37-year-old actress on Instagram.
One of the pictures shared by Sonakshi shows the actress embracing her parents, who teared up during the ceremony.
Another picture shows the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actress sharing a poignant moment with her father Shatrughan.
Sonakshi hugs her mother, smiling through her tears. The heartfelt embraces highlight the tender and bittersweet nature of the occasion.
As per media reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer first met on the sets of Notebook (2017). The couple collaborated for the music video of the song Blockbuster, which was released in September 2022. Later, they co-starred in comedy drama Double XL (2022).
In her wedding post, Sonakshi revealed that she and Zaheer had been in a relationship for seven years before they tied the knot. “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs, leading up to this moment, where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods, we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever,” wrote the actress alongside the carousel on Instagram.
Sonakshi and Zaheer registered their marriage at the actress’s sea-facing Bandra West apartment on June 23. They were surrounded by their loved ones, including Sonakshi's parents and Zaheer’s dad Iqbal Ratansi. A video shared by the newlyweds shows that Sonakshi’s Heeramandi co-star Aditi Rao Hydari and her husband Siddharth were also present. Zaheer and Sonakshi’s Double XL co-star Huma Qureshi was also in attendance.
“Family, friends, love, friendship, laughter, silly comments, kids running around, happy tears, warm hugs, excitement, bloopers, screeches, fun, joy, anticipation, nerves, emotions, and above all just pure happiness. This was our chaotic little Shaadi ka ghar, and it was perfect, it was Us,” the couple captioned the video on Instagram.
While Sonakshi looked gorgeous in an embroidered white sari, Zaheer twinned with his bride in a white kurta. The newlyweds later hosted a reception for family, friends and industry colleagues at a fine-dining restaurant in Dadar.
For the post-wedding festivities, Sonakshi wore a red Banarasi saree, while Zaheer sported a white jacket and matching trousers.
Sonakshi last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s maiden web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The period drama is currently streaming on Netflix.
The actress will next be seen in Aditya Sarpotdar’s upcoming horror comedy Kakuda, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. Kakuda is slated to premiere on ZEE5 on July 12.
