Newlyweds Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal on Thursday shared a video showing the duo exchanging vows in the presence of family and friends at their June 23 wedding.
Sonakshi's parents Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha feature in the video alongside Zaheer's father Iqbal Ratansi.
The video shows Sonakshi and Zaheer registering their marriage and exchanging garlands at the actress’s Bandra apartment. While Sonakshi looked gorgeous in an embroidered white sari, Zaheer twinned with his bride in a white kurta.
Sonakshi’s Heeramandi co-star Aditi Rao Hydari and her husband Siddharth were also present. Zaheer and Sonakshi’s Double XL co-star Huma Qureshi was also in attendance.
“Family, friends, love, friendship, laughter, silly comments, kids running around, happy tears, warm hugs, excitement, bloopers, screeches, fun, joy, anticipation, nerves, emotions and above all just pure happiness this was our chaotic little Shaadi ka ghar… and it was PERFECT… it was US,” the newlyweds captioned the video on Instagram.
As per media reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer first met on the sets of 2017’s Notebook. In her wedding post, Sonakshi revealed that she and Zaheer had been in a relationship for seven years before they tied the knot.
“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever,” the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actress wrote alongside the carousel on Instagram.
The newlyweds later hosted a reception for family, friends and industry colleagues at a fine-dining restaurant in Dadar.
For the post-wedding festivities, Sonakshi wore a red Banarasi saree, while Zaheer sported a white jacket and matching trousers.
The reception was attended by several Bollywood celebrities including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bela Segal, Gulshan Devaiah, Reema Kagti, Padmini Kolhapure, Qureshi, Saqib Saleem, Siddharth Kak, Mudassar Aziz, Anil Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, Aanand L Rai, Kajol, Saira Banu, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Ali Abbas Zafar, Raveena Tandon, Anees Bazmee, Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Tabu.
Sonakshi was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s maiden web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar alongside Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. The period drama series is currently streaming on Netflix.
