Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardar 2, a follow-up to the 2012 film of the same name, has started production, the actor said on Tuesday, sharing a video of him and actress Mrunal Thakur in a gurdwara.
“The journey of #SonOfSardaar2 begins with prayers, blessings, and an amazing team,” he wrote alongside the video.
The footage also offers glimpses of director Vijay Kumar Arora reviewing shots.
Ajay, who reportedly reprises his role as Jaswinder ‘Jassi’ Singh Randhawa in the sequel, is seen walking around the set in turbans. The teaser also includes clips of the clapstick.
Towards the end of the video, a camera pans to the sky while a dance sequence involving the lead actors is filmed.
The original film also starred Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Juhi Chawla in lead roles. But Ravi Kishan reportedly replaced Sanjay in the sequel.
According to the official synopsis of the film on IMDb, the storyline revolves around a 12-year-old village boy Aarav and his friends, who participate in an annual mango festival and search for a rare golden mango.
Actors Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal and Nav Ghotra also play important roles in the sequel.
Son of Sardaar 2 is expected to hit theatres in the latter half of 2025.
