Sohum Shah shares BTS pictures from sets of Tumbbad on the fifth anniversary of the horror film

Shah co-produced and headlined the horror thriller helmed by Rahi Anil Barve

Rahi Anil Barve’s 2018 film Tumbbad, starring Sohum Shah, explores the very depths of human greed that can run through generations. Shah, who is also a co-producer of the folk horror movie, shared some behind-the-scenes images from the shoot of Tumbbad on its fifth anniversary on Tuesday. Here’s a look.

Sohum Shah plays Vinayak, a man who becomes obsessed with the "Goddess's womb”, a mystical place that promises an endless shower of gold.

Through Vinayak’s arc, Tumbbad reminds us that the most profound horrors do not hide in the shadows but rather reside within the human soul.

Vinayak ultimately passes on his greed for gold to his son Pandurang (Mohammad Samad).

“All the amazing love and support you'll have shown us and Tumbbad, over the years, makes us want to so much more. And maybe that's what we're doing ,” Sohum wrote on X.

Sohum Shah's performance as Vinayak, a character both compelling and deeply flawed, adds depth and authenticity to the story.

Tumbbad also gives an insight into the caste system that was prevalent in rural areas in pre-Independence India.

Half of Tumbbad’s narrative unfolds amidst relentless rain, heightening atmospheric presence of the motifs of doom, destruction and death running through the movie.
