Sir Elton John left with ‘limited vision’ due to severe eye infection: ‘I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process’

The 77-year-old music icon shared on Instagram that while he is in the process of healing, his recovery will be gradual

Sir Elton John has been suffering from a severe eye infection that has left him with only limited vision, the 77-year-old music icon shared on social media, saying his recovery would be gradual.

“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” the singer wrote.

The Rocket Man singer also expressed his gratitude to the team of doctors attending to him. “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” he wrote.

“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and I am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my recovery and healing thus far,” Sir Elton signed off.

The news has prompted an outpouring of support from fellow celebrities. “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” designer Donatella Versace commented, wishing for his speedy recovery.

Tennis legend Billie Jean King also sent his love and support. “Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend,” he commented. “Buckets of love from Kay, me and the kids ,” commented Scottish guitarist Davey Johnstone.

Sir Elton, a towering figure in the music industry, has captivated audiences for over five decades with his distinctive voice and flamboyant style. Since his debut in the late 1960s, he has released a staggering catalog of hits, including classics like Your Song, Rocket Man, and Candle in the Wind.

The musician has sold more than 300 million records worldwide. His career highlights include numerous Grammy Awards, an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a legendary farewell tour that culminated in a spectacular final performance at Glastonbury.
