Netflix’s upcoming Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Mission Majnu is set for a January 20 release next year.
Sidharth, who played Indian armed force officers in films like Shershaah and Aiyaari, will play an undercover spy in Mission Majnu.
The 37-year-old actor had recommended Rashmika for the female lead. “It was Sidharth's idea to cast Rashmika as the female lead. He suggested that we should approach her,” producer Amar Butala revealed.
“When we heard the script, I thought the part was tailor-made for Rashmika. Her eyes are so beautiful. She plays a visually impaired person in the film. Amar and I both thought that this would be a great launch for her in the Hindi film industry,”said Sidharth.
Though Mission Majnu was supposed to be Rashmika’s Bollywood debut, its release got delayed and Vikas Bahl’s Goodbye became her Hindi debut.
The producer also revealed that the romantic track Rabba Janda was brought to him by Sidharth. “This is the song that Sidharth and Tanishk (Bagchi) brought to us. We knew that we had got a great song as soon as we heard the scratch version,” he said.
Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, the script has been written by Sumit Batheja, Parveez Shaik and Aseem Arrora.
