Actor Sidharth Malhotra has urged fans to ‘exercise caution’ while dealing with requests on social media after a fan was allegedly duped of Rs 50 lakh by one of his fan pages.
“It has been brought to my attention that certain fraudulent activities/scams have been circulating on various social media platforms, allegedly claiming to be associated with or in relation to me, my family and people claiming to be my fans and seeking money,” Sidharth wrote in a statement shared on Instagram.
Assuring his fans that neither he nor his team support such activities on social media, the Yodha actor added, “I urge all of you to exercise caution when dealing with such matters. If you receive any suspicious requests, report them to the appropriate authorities and avoid spreading false information.”
“My fans have always been my biggest strength and your trust and safety are my top priorities. Big Love and Hug,” the Shershaah actor signed off.
Fans flooded the comments section with love and support for the actor. “@sidmalhotra it takes immense strength to come forward despite you have nothing to do with this social media drama,” one of them wrote. “Siddharth Malhotra is only the genuine Hero who is taking stand for his fans, no other can do this. Thanks and well noted sir,” another fan commented.
The fan in question, who claims to be a US resident, has alleged that the admins of the fan page duped her of Rs 50 lakh by fabricating stories about Sidharth’s life being in danger because of his wife Kiara. Vasudeva wrote about how the admins asked her for financial help to save Sidharth.
Sidharth was last seen in Yodha, directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. Also starring Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani, the action-thriller released in theatres on March 15.
