Shoojit Sircar to judge short film competition at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024

The festival is set to take place between August 15 and August 25

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar will judge the short film competition at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024, the organisers have announced on their official website.

“Join us for a momentous occasion as we mark the 15th year of our Film Festival with an exciting Short Film Competition themed 'All Our Voices', judged by acclaimed filmmaker Shoojit Sircar,” reads the announcement.

Sircar, who has been a significant part of the festival over the years, expressed his excitement about this new role. "I am delighted to join as judge for the short film competition at IFFM 2024. I am looking forward to experiencing the diverse storytelling and innovative filmmaking that the festival is known for."

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is an annual event that celebrates Indian cinema on a global platform.

Shoojit Sircar is known for making films like Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015), Pink (2016) and October (2018). His latest film was Gulabo Sitabo, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, currently streaming on Prime Video.

The IFFM 2024 short film competition has attracted some of the best talents from across the two countries over the years, making it one of the key highlights of the festival. The festival, which is set to take place between August 15 to August 25, will celebrate the best in Indian cinema over the last year, with a focus on diversity.
