Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Windows Production on Friday dropped the music video of Shimul Polash, the first song from Bohurupi, the next release of the filmmaker duo.

Sung by Nanichora Das Baul and Shrestha Das, the folk number is composed by Nanichora and Bonnie Chakraborty. The lyrics too are penned by Nanichora.

Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman also shared the song on social media, wishing best of luck to his longtime collaborator Bonnie Chakraborty, who had sung for Rahman in films like Delhi 6, Mangal Pandey: The Rising and Jodhaa Akbar.

The music video of Shimul Polash features the characters played by Shiboprosad and Koushani Mukherjee in the film as they are paired opposite each other for the first time. It begins with Jhimli (Koushani) preparing for her wedding day, adorned with jewellery made from palash flowers. As Bikram (Shiboprosad) arrives with his friends, the joyful wedding atmosphere is vividly brought to life through energetic choreography and heartfelt lyrics. Post the wedding, the couple settle into their married life.

Also starring Abir Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty, Bohurupi revolves around two powerful adversaries in a high-stakes drama set in Bengal. Shiboprosad plays a ‘bohurupi’ artist who assumes various disguises while robbing banks across Bengal. Abir Chatterjee, who last worked with the directors in Raktabeej (2023), plays the role of Sumanta Ghoshal, a determined cop chasing the elusive Bikram.

The film also marks a reunion between Abir and Ritabhari, who last shared the screen in the 2023 drama Fatafati, also produced by Shiboprosad and Nandita under Windows Production.

Set to release on October 8, Bohurupi is set to compete at the box office with Srijit Mukherji’s thriller Tekka starring Dev, Swastika Mukherjee and Rukmini Maitra. Pathikrit Basu’s Shastri starring Mithun Chakraborty, Debasree Roy and Soham Chakraborty is also releasing on the same day.
