On her 24th wedding anniversary, Shefali Shah reflected on her simple wedding which she and her husband Vipul Amrutlal Shah planned and executed all by themselves without any grand gestures and picture-perfect moments.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 51-year-old actress wrote, “We had no such hashtags for our union. We didn’t have an event planner, dress designer, no florist, dance choreographer, videographer (which I regret till date) I didn’t even have a make up artist. We planned and executed everything on our own.”

Recalling her simple wedding and the preparations that she and her husband made all on their own, Shefali said, “We picked a location, decided the menu, searched for and designed the mandap decor, our own clothes and we got married. Bas as simple as that.”

Shefali and Vipul did not have any “perfect pictures” and they did not look like “a prince and princess”, the Three of Us actress said.

“Yes the horse was milky white with long silky tresses, absolutely magnificent but he belonged to the next door ka baraat. And we had danced so much at our sangeet we almost considered postponing our wedding to the day after but it was too late, food for 100 people (thanks to our parents) was cooked. By the end of the evening we weren’t jumping with joy, overflowing with romance or desperate to lay hands on each other. We were just exhausted, tired and dying to sleep. And that’s exactly what we did,” Shefali further said, adding that they have celebrated their relationship in many ways over the years with their children and friends.

For their anniversary over the years, Shefali and Vipul have planned surprises for each other, given gifts, flowers, letters (which only she wrote) and cooked or ordered their favourite food. “Music, friends, parties. We have done it all,” she said, adding that this year, they want to have a “chill” day at home with just the two of them.

“It may not be the best way to celebrate an #anniversary but it is a celebration of life, which is solid, rooted, persistent and forever,” she concluded her note.

In the throwback picture Shefali shared, Vipul can be seen smearing vermillion on her forehead as she bows her head. While the Delhi Crime actress sports a red saree, the filmmaker-producer wears a white kurta paired with a red dupatta.

On the work front, Shefali was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Three of Us alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Swanand Kirkire.
