Months after dropping hints on The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 1 that she was raring to get married, Sonakshi Sinha returned to the Netflix comedy gig, with newly-wed husband Zaheer Iqbal, and her parents Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. The 10th episode of the season felt like a family WhatsApp group brought to life — complete with nostalgia, teasing, and of course, unsolicited marriage advice from senior members.

Zaheer Iqbal: The LOL Spectator

Zaheer, the newly inducted son-in-law, decided to take the ‘observe with a smile’ approach. Amidst Shatrughan Sinha’s endless anecdotes and Kapil’s cheeky jabs, he laughed his way through what could only be described as a Sinha-style initiation ritual. When Shatrughan started offering unsolicited (but highly entertaining) “husband tips”, Zaheer’s poker face deserved an award.

Shatrughan Sinha: The OG Showstopper

The legendary Shatrughan Sinha was, as always, in his element. His booming ‘Khamosh!’ echoed not as a command but as a punctuation mark to his hilarious anecdotes. From sharing relationship tips offered by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan to poking fun at married life, he had the audience — and his family — laughing non-stop.

Shatrughan Sinha openly discussed the difficulties he and Poonam encountered during their 14-year courtship. He recalled a prediction made by a pandit: “He told Poonam that she would experience tough times because of me for the first seven years of marriage, but reassured her that she would eventually get used to it!”

Shatrughan also recounted a piece of advice he received from his senior in the industry, Dharmendra, who had told him that as a movie star, he would attract the attention of many women, but he should be a “one-woman man… at a time”!

Poonam — The Sinha of Sass

Poonam Sinha proved to be quite the show-stealer in her own right. As Shatrughan dished out husband tips, stating at one point that a man can either be married or be happy, she countered, “I’m married and I keep him happy!”

When Shatrughan said, “Mere jaisa bhola bhala… aadmi,” Poonam was quick to pick on the “bhola bhala” and quip, “Mujhse poochho!”

And while marking her husband on parameters like “lying smoothly” – 100 on 10 (!), plus telling her son-in-law that his father-in-law was a “headmaster” in the subject – to “punctuality” and “cooking” – a giant zero on both counts – Poonam Sinha quickly emerged as a crowd favourite.

Sonakshi & Zaheer: Couple Goals Alert

Fans couldn’t get enough of Sonakshi and Zaheer’s cute chemistry. The duo said they’d been dating for seven years before finally making it official. The newly-married couple also revealed they went on three honeymoons — to Singapore, Philippines and New York — to meet friends and relatives who couldn’t attend the wedding. On a lighter note, Zaheer confessed to having visited Shatrughan Sinha’s residence a few times to ask for Sonakshi’s hand in marriage, but chickened out at the last moment!

The comedic powerhouse of Sunil Grover emerged as Kamlesh ki Mai, an old village woman who had come to bless the married couple. The catch? She meant Shatru and Poonam! “Are they not married as well?” she quipped when Kapil pointed out that Sonakshi and Zaheer are the newly-married couple. Krushna Abhishek’s OTT impersonation of Jeetendra also left the guests, and us, in splits.
