Shatrughan Sinha has shared pictures and videos from his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding with long-time boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal, thanking everyone who celebrated with them on their special day.
“With an attitude of gratitude we would like to thank everyone for celebrating with us on our special day seems to be the 'wedding of the century' with your warmth, love, congratulatory messages for our darling daughter #SonakshiSinha with #ZaheerIqbal as they start a new chapter in their beautiful journey of their lives,” wrote the 77-year-old actor-politician on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
One of the videos shared by Shatrughan shows Sonakshi and Zaheer participating in a puja together. Another video captures Sonakshi walking under a flower canopy in a white embroidered sari.
The pictures from Sonakshi and Zaheer’s reception show the actress looking gorgeous in a red banarasi silk sari, while Zaheer appears dapper in a white kurta. The images also feature Sonakshi’s parents Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha. Shatrughan wore a blue kurta, while Poonam opted for a sequined beige suit.
As per media reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer first met on the sets of Notebook (2017). The couple collaborated for the music video of the song Blockbuster, which was released in September 2022. Later, they co-starred in the comedy drama Double XL (2022).
In her wedding post, Sonakshi revealed that she and Zaheer had been in a relationship for seven years before they tied the knot. “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever,” wrote the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actress alongside the carousel on Instagram.
The couple registered their marriage on June 23 at Sonakshi’s Bandra apartment. They were surrounded by their loved ones, including the groom’s father Iqbal Ratansi, actress Huma Qureshi and singer Honey Singh.
Sonakshi was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s maiden web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar alongside Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. The period drama series is currently streaming on Netflix.
