Actress Sharvari Wagh paid tribute to John Abraham’s character Abhimanyu, her mentor in the upcoming film Vedaa, in a letter addressed from the perspective of Vedaa, the role she plays in the film, on Guru Purnima.

“Abhimanyu Sir, In my world, you are the only person who has never discriminated against anyone. You are my guru who has stood by me, taught me how to fight, and shown me the ways of the world, right and wrong, making me a fighter,” reads the English translation of the 28-year-old actress’ caption, shared alongside a still from the film.

Calling Abraham’s character Abhimanyu an inspiration for her character Vedaa, Sharvari wrote, “You have shown me the path not to endure injustice but to wage a battle against it. You are my inspiration, and to many others like me.”

“On this Guru Purnima day, this is a promise from Fighter Vedaa to you, that the battle I have started against injustice, I will fight till the end and I will win. Your Disciple, Vedaa,” she signed off.

The poster features Abraham offering a glass of water to Sharvari who seems to be injured after a fight.

Earlier, a teaser of the film was dropped by the makers. “It is the story of an uprising, of challenging a draconian system. It is the story of a young woman who fought back, steered and championed by the one man she believed was her saviour, who became her weapon. It is the story of a man who found himself in helping Vedaa find justice,” the description of the video shared on YouTube reads.

Touted as “a story of bravery, of the power of one”, Vedaa is written by The Buckingham Murders and Mission Majnu writer Aseem Arrora. The film is helmed by Nikkhil Advani and also stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Abhishek Banerjee.

Produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with John Abraham, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Minnaskshi Das, Vedaa is slated to release in theatres on August 15.
