Shantanu Maheshwari plays cop in debut Bengali film Chaalchitro; trailer out

Also starring Tota Roy Choudhury and Anirban Chakrabarti, the film is slated to hit theatres on December 20

Actor Shantanu Maheshwari on Friday shared the trailer of his Bengali debut Chaalchitro - The Frame Fatale, helmed by Pratim D Gupta.

“Revenge is a dish best served cold. Presenting the official trailer of #Chaalchitro, film directed by Pratim D Gupta, and starring Tota Roy Choudhury, Shantanu Maheshwari, Anirban Chakrabarti, Raima Sen, Ziaul Faruq Apurba, Tanika Basu, Priya Banerjee, Swastika Dutta, Indrajeet Bose, Anindita Bose and Bratya Basu. Film releasing on 20th December,” Shantanu wrote alongside the video on Instagram.

The two-minute-nine-second-long video follows four police officers—played by Tota Roy Choudhury, Anirban Chakrabarti, Shantanu Maheshwari and Indrajit Bose—who strive to track down a serial killer ruthlessly murdering women and transforming them into ‘chaalchitros’ (corpses clad in white saris with red borders). The film is set in Kolkata.

Chaalchitro also explores the complicated relationship of Tata’s character with his wife, played by Raima Sen.

The film features Swastika Dutta and Bratya Basu. Debojyoti Mishra has composed the music for the film. Usha Utthup, Rupam Islam and Iman Chakraborty have sung for the film.

Shantanu Maheshwari’s first still from the sets of Chaalchitro — The Frame Fatale was dropped by director Pratim D Gupta to mark the former’s 33rd birthday on March 7.

Shantanu had previously collaborated with Pratim for the director's 2023 Netflix romantic horror comedy Tooth Pari: When Love Bites.

The actor rose to fame with his portrayal of protagonist Swayam Shekhawat in Channel V’s dance drama Dil Dosti Dance. He made his Bollywood debut opposite Alia Bhatt with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's biographical drama Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022.

The 33-year-old actor was seen in Neeraj Pandey’s romance drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, fronted by Ajay Devgn and Tabu. He will also appear in Rahhat Shah Kazmi’s Love in Vietnam alongside Avneet Kaur and Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan.

Additionally, Shantanu appeared in the romantic drama series Ishq In The Air, which premiered on Amazon MX Player on September 20.

Chaalchitro is slated to hit theatres on December 20.
